DBA is one of the staple games of the Wednesday Night Historicals of the Gathering Gamers & is a 15mm tabletop battle game. It has a relatively straight forward set of rules, but like chess, it has a huge scope for tactics & game play. Each force consists of 12 "Bases" of models; each of which represents a unit of troops in your army. Each Base has combat values versus Foot or Mounted enemies & certain movement speeds & abilities dependent on what troop class they represent: from Blades (Roman Legionaries, Medieval footmen), & Knights (heavy cavalry who charge home on the attack); to Hordes (rambling groups of peasants or conscripted levies), & Psiloi (skirmishing light foot troops). The large range of different troop types involved in DBA gives range & depth to the game play but still leaves you with a fast paced game that is generally fought to a conclusion within an hour. The armies involved range from 4000BC to the 16th Century, & pretty much any obscure or famous general or kingdom in between. So if you want to fight battles involving Medieval Knighst, Greek Hoplites or ancient Chariot Warriors - DBA is the one for you!
